Description:
The approach for this installation is heavy modular as it has to produce dozens of different models.
Up to two different tools could be placed on each of the two tables attached to a trommel. Once the parts are loaded, the trommel turns so the table moves to the inside of the installation (the welding area) where the FANUC robots will weld the pieces. In turn, the table that was in the welding area will now be in the operator area, so new pieces can be placed while the welding proceeds.
The tables themselves oscillate to keep the balance on the horizontal plane and will also move to make it easier for the robots to access hard to reach areas of the pieces.
I am in charge of assisting in PLC programming and doing most of the development of the HMI screens.
I’ve also written the instruction manual for both the robot cells and the welding press. Both parts of the installation were different enough to force us to create a different manual for each one.
